    Description

    Burmese lacquerware pedestal, late 19th Century.
    This beautiful lacquerware pedestal is from Burma and is constructed from lacquered wood and gilded metal with elaborate golden decoration with coloured glass.
    Such a pedestal was used as a stand for special and elaborate betel boxes, often for ceremonial use.
    A scarce find in the UK.
    Condition is good overall.
    Structurally sound but with old wear and general ageing.
    Crack surrounding base of central stand, but is all structurally sound.
