    Description

This is a rare large antique hand engraved Burmese lacquerware table.  The estimated age of this piece is around 200 years old.  The removable octagonal table top measures 37 inches in diameter by one inch thick with supporting wood pieces on the bottom that help hold the table top in place when put together.  The legs are hinged and fold up for transport or storage.  They are 22.5 inches tall by 3/4 inch thick.   Old rusty hinges that were beginning to corrode contact areas were removed and replaced by the current owner, also allowing the legs to once again fold perfectly as originally intended.   There are a few small spots of damage to the lacquer (not the wood) on the table edges (see second photo).  All artwork is immaculate and undamaged.  In the center of the table top, the battle of King Rama and the ogre is depicted in spectacular detail, after Sita, the wife of Rama was kidnapped.   A ring of alternating deer and angels watch the battle from the table top edges.  Each of the legs is decorated with a bird of paradise or phoenix.  I have partnered with an American friend living in Thailand to make this extraordinary piece available.  He has spent most of his adult life living and working in Nepal and Thailand, and has amassed an incredible collection of these and other hand made antique wares over the last 40 years.  None of his relatives have any interest in the items, so he has asked me to help find them new homes with those who will appreciate their beauty, artistic value, and intricate masterful workmanship.  PLEASE NOTE:  This item will be safely and securely shipped worldwide from Thailand via EMS (an average of 5-7 business days in transit).  EMS shipping cost is 0.  Item weighs 44 pounds without any packing materials.  Ebay only allows 12 photos on the listing, so if any additional photos are required, please let me know.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.  Thanks for shopping :)
